About This Site
A course built in public
Section titled “A course built in public”Rust Root is not a finished course. It is being written piece by piece, and the whole process is public.
I first planned a video course, but the production bar was too high for one person. Then a book, but writing a whole book before anyone reads it risks drifting away from what learners actually need. So: a website.
- One site, filled in lesson by lesson;
- Publish what’s done, one lesson at a time — no waiting for “the whole book”;
- Adjust freely — outline, order and approach may change based on feedback.
If a lesson says coming soon, that’s its honest status.
Two sites
Section titled “Two sites”| Site | Language | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| rustroot.cn | 简体中文 | Primary authoring language |
| rustroot.dev | English | Follows the Chinese edition |
Both sites share the same content structure with identical paths. Use the language switcher in the top-right corner to jump between them.
Built with Astro + Starlight, fully static. Every code experiment in the course lives in a public repository and is guaranteed to cargo run.
Feedback
Section titled “Feedback”The course is early, and any feedback helps—especially “I didn’t get this part” and “this analogy made it click.”
Email works right now: hello@rustroot.dev.
Once the repository is public, a GitHub Discussions link will be added here. If you want to paste code, or leave a thread that other readers can find later, that will be the better place.
